Work began this week finishing the Insignia Films project "The Building of the Panama Canal." It will air on the PBS series American Experience.

Inspiring Story

Peter Rosen Productions has created a documentary about the Van Cliburn Piano Competition. Today I completed the finishing for the PBS version. It has a very inspiring plot which follows blind pianist, Nobuyuki Tsujii to the podium to share the gold medal with Haochen Zhang. Look for this to air sometime this autumn on your local PBS station.

Harrowing

Allison Argo brought her film about September 11, 2001 to us for finishing. Ms. Argo created this story of several people who survived the attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon as well as first responders to the Flight 93 site in Shanksville, PA. National Geographic Television will air "9-11 Where Were You" please look for it soon.

Single Day in the Zeitgeist

Brett Morgan just finished his film "June 17th 1994" for ESPN's 30 for 30 series. I performed the online edit for Mr. Morgan this week. What a fascinating look back at an historic moment. Check it out Wednesday June 16th 2010.

Heavy Duty Poetry

Pete Sillen has wrought the most amazing documentary about the poet Steven J. Bernstein (aka Jesse Bernstein.) Weaving 16mm film shot by Mr. Sillen with a tremendous cache of video and photographs of Jesse Bernstein, Mr. Sillen relates the heart breaking, tragic tale of the godfather of grunge. I had the immense pleasure of the conforming the high definition master of "I AM SECRETLY AN IMPORTANT MAN" you must check it out.

Leviathan visits my suite

Ric Burns directs "Into the Deep: America, Whaling and the World" for American Experience. DuArt Film and Video provided film processing, telecined dailies, HD dailies, color correction and HD online conform. I performed the conform and final mastering. The cinematography is scrumptious, the story riveting and informative, and the music gorgeous. Check it out when it airs or better yet buy the DVD.

The Sweet Science

Frederick Wiseman has directed The Boxing Gym. Finishing was performed from 16mm film telecined to HDCam SR 4:4:4 and conformed on the Avid DS Nitris. It will premier at the Director's Fortnight held in Cannes. Additionally, today MOMA begins a year-long retropsective of thirty six of Mr. Wiseman's films.
